SA urges UK to reconsider travel ban over new COVID-19 variant

International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Naledi Pandor, says South Africa will soon engage the United Kingdom government with the view to persuade it to reconsider its new decision to temporarily ban Southern African flights from entering the British country.

The ban, which comes into effect on Friday, was imposed after the detection of a new COVID-19 variant, B.1.1.529, in South Africa, Botswana and Hong Kong.
