NW education promises to bolster school security

RUSTENBURG-The North West Education and Sport Development department on Tuesday said it will beef-up security at various identified school in 2019 due to an increase in violent incidences at school with latest to make headlines being the murder of a grade one pupil at a Moretele Primary School in December 2018.    

The North West MEC of Education and Sport Development department, Sello Lehari said: “We have identified school that are threat and needs security.”    

A 24-year-old teacher, Gadimang Makolobate from Ramotshere Moiloa Technical School in Zeerust was allegedly stabbed to death by a learner in 2019. This is one of the school identified as a threat and a security a been appointed.    

According to the department the budgets is not enough to appoint security at all the school, it is the department’s priority to see safer environment in schools. The department has taken necessary procurement procedure when appointing security
