President Cyril Ramaphosa address the nation at 7pm tonight on developments in South Africa’s risk-adjusted response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The address follows a series of meetings that took place from the beginning of the week. They include the National Coronavirus Command Council, which took place on Monday, a meeting of the President’s Coordinating Council yesterday and today’s special sitting of Cabinet.
The President’s Coordinating Council is co-chaired by the President and Deputy President David Mabuza and brings together Ministers, Premiers and the leadership of the South African Local Government Association and National House of Traditional Leaders.
Last week when Ramaphosa spoke at the South African National Editors Forum (Sanef) gathering, he said some COVID-19 lockdown regulations may be relaxed to allow the country to move to Level 1.
The President’s address will be broadcast on several television channels and streamed live on a range of platforms that are accessible to South Africans and international audience.
