Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt for those responsible for killing of Groblersdal Police Station Commander, Colonel Lebyane Jeffrey Seroka.
Provincial police have activated a 72-hour action plan in an effort to apprehend the suspects quickly.
Seroka (57) was shot and killed by unknown suspects in front of his house at Mmaganagobuswa village at around 04h30 on Saturday morning.
Limpopo provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, says police in Dennilton have opened a case of murder and preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased woke up early in the morning to prepare to go to a funeral. At about 04h30, he went out of the house and as he was about to leave, he was shot dead in front of his gate.
The suspects thereafter fled the scene in the deceased's white Toyota Hilux. A manhunt immediately ensued for the suspects and the vehicle was later found abandoned along the Dennilton-Maklerekeng road.
Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has instructed police to work hard to ensure the killers are apprehended and brought to book.
Police said the motive for Seroka’s killing is still unknown and investigations are continuing.
Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects is urged to contact Lieutenant Colonel Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501 or the Crime stop number 0860010111 or inform the nearest police station.
