The five men convicted of the murder of Rhythm City actor, Dumisani Masilela, are likely to know how long they will be jailed on Wednesday.
The North Gauteng High Court is expected to sentence Bongani Masombuka, Sfundo Nkosi, Khumbuzo Mukhuba, Brian Makhubedu and Mashudu Malema after they were found guilty by Judge Papi Masopa last week.
The actor was gunned down in an attempted hijacking in 2017 in Tembisa.
The five men have asked the court for lenient sentences, but during mitigating of sentence there were concerns raised about lack of remorse for the gruesome crime.
On Tuesday Khumbuzo Mukhuba - the man accused by his four accomplices as the person who fired the fatal shot - took the stand yet again, insisting that he is innocent.
“My conscience has no room for any remorse because I didn’t commit this crime,” said Mukhuba.
“I want to state some things based on the merits of the case my Lord. I have been found guilty of the crime I didn’t commit and the court itself is misinterpreting the law,” he added.
In his response the judge told the convicted criminals that the court proceedings were for the mitigation and aggravation for sentencing and not for them to plead their case again.
But Mukhuba insisted the evidence submitted in court was “not admissible” and the court convicted him using evidence from his co-accused.
Masilela's family has called for the harshest sentence for the killers.
