Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader, Julius Malema, is confident that his party has got what it takes to record impressive victories in the country’s metropolitan municipalities in the November local government elections.
Malema addressed the media on Friday at Alexandra Township in Johannesburg, where he had been putting up campaign posters ahead of his party’s manifesto launch.
Residents, especially women and children, walked side by side with Malema in the streets of Alexandra where potholes and flow of sewerage are a common feature.
Malema said the odds are in favour of the red berets in the metros.
“We are taking all the metros starting with eThekwini. Next weekend I'll be there. The ANC is dead and we are not going to wake the dead, we are going to live like we are alone. We're cruising in these elections,” he said.
The EFF leader believes the courts and the ANC are conspiring to rescue the governing party from an inevitable defeat.
“Any other thing it will be the courts and the ANC against the EFF and we want to defeat all of them combined," he combined.
The EFF has scheduled its 2021 Local Government Elections manifesto launch for September 26 at Johannesburg’s Ghandi Square.
