The late Deputy Minister in The Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Prof Hlengiwe Mkhize, will be honoured with an Official Funeral Category 2.
The Presidency confirmed his in a statement on Monday.
The funeral service of Mkhize, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 69, will take place in Johannesburg on Saturday. This would be done under strict COVID-19 regulations.
In a statement Ramaphosa said the national flag will be flown at half-mast at every flag station in the country from Tuesday until the evening of the day of the funeral on 25 September 2021.
A revered human rights and gender activist, Mkhize served as South Africa's Ambassador to the Netherlands, Deputy Minister of Correctional Services, Economic Development, Telecommunications and Postal Services, Minister of Home Affairs and of Higher Education and Training before her appointment to The Presidency.
Mkhize also played a crucial role in conflict resolution during South Africa's transition to democracy. She was a Commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
