Metrorail in Gauteng has announced a temporary suspension of operations between Pretoria and Saulsville stations with effect from Saturday, 16 October 2021

This as it embarks on a project to fix the dilapidated rail network around Pretoria station complex as part of its Mabopane line recovery problem.

“Commuters travelling on the Saulsville line are therefore notified that the last train trip on the Saulsville-Pretoria line will be on Friday, 15 October 2021 at 6:45pm,” said acting Gauteng provincial Metrorail spokesperson, Tony Games.

Games said this railway line is being closed close due to safety concerns.

“The work that must be undertaken between Mitchell Station and Pretoria necessitates the temporary suspension of the train service and closure of the line, for safety reasons,” he said.

Metrorail has urged commuters to make alternative transport arrangements until the line has been reopened.

The rail transport agency said the date to resume the train service will be announced in due course.
